New Stock Investing Seminar schedule announced

After the success of the August 2011 edition of the Stock Investing Basics organized by Solon & Co., the team organized by Jane Solon and Orven Enoveso is now busy planning a new schedule for October 1, 2011.

The August edition was attended by a small but enthusiastic group of 15 novice investors. The newest batch was a good mix of mostly young professionals and entrepreneurs. A few participants even came as far as Bohol just to attend.

Jane Solon and Orven Enoveso, who have been teaching stock investing to friends, family and office colleagues for free for a couple of years now, decided to partner in 2011 to create a seminar series purely for beginners.

As active and successful stock investors themselves, Jane and Orven felt that much more was needed to be done for Cebu in terms of financial education for everyone. The team believes that there are simply too many people who still think of stocks as too risky and expensive.

Recent surveys have shown that in the Philippines, only less than one-half of one percent of the population are investing in stocks. Singapore has the highest proportion of its population — around 33% — with investments in the stock market. Japan and Australia both have roughly 25% each; while Malaysia has 18%; Hong Kong, 17%; and Korea, 10%.

To keep the seminar series accessible to more people, Jane Solon keeps the pricing reasonable. For many of its offerings, the registration fee can be as low as P1,500 only if one registers early.

“I have joined many seminars myself. Some even costing me upwards of P6,000 to learn advanced stock trading concepts and techniques. While all of them have helped me, I think we can serve more people by providing a high-value seminar that is reasonably priced,” Orven Enoveso explains.
